In this role, Liu will be responsible for leading naoo’s AI and machine learning initiatives. His focus will be on creating a smarter, more personalized user experience: content will become more relevant, engaging, and easier to discover—significantly enhancing user interaction on the platform. This technological advancement lays the foundation for substantially improved user retention, fostering a more vibrant ecosystem. In turn, this will provide powerful drivers to scale advertising revenues and accelerate revenue growth.

Dr. Liu joins naoo from eBay, where he served for several years as Lead Scientist, working in both Shanghai and Zurich. At eBay, he led research teams and developed large-scaler enterprise recommendation systems, multimodal AI models, and real-time personalization engines. Prior to that, he was Senior Machine Learning Leader at IBM in Shanghai, where he led a team of engineers focused on developing advanced ML algorithms. His solutions significantly improved the performance of IBM’s customer service platforms. Liu holds a PhD in Computer Science, a Master’s degree in Computer Science, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

As Lead Data Scientist and Head of AI, Liu joins a global team of software developers, cloud and data engineers with hubs in Switzerland, Estonia, Israel, Norway, Poland, and Vietnam. Together, they will deploy state-of-the-art AI techniques to further enhance naoo’s personalized feeds—delivering highly relevant, diverse, and surprising content tailored to users’ interests.
Additionally, the team will advance AI-powered search algorithms that go beyond keyword matching to understand user intent and deliver hyper-localized recommendations. Machine learning will also be used to further optimize the platform’s gamified reward structures. Another key focus is the development of advanced algorithms for social graphing and AI-driven group activities that strengthen the naoo community.
