naoo Expands Its Social Media Platform to Include Professional Entertainment
Microdramas and short series kick things off—new streaming feature already integrated and in beta testing
Zug/Zurich, October 6, 2026 – naoo AG (Düsseldorf: Ticker: NAO; ISIN: CH1323306329), operator of the social media and commerce platform naoo, is expanding its social media platform to include professional entertainment. The new streaming feature is already integrated into the naoo platform and is currently in beta testing. It is scheduled to be rolled out to users later this month.
To start, naoo is focusing on microdramas and short series—short fictional series produced specifically for smartphones. Omdia estimates global revenue from microdramas will reach approximately USD 11 billion in 2025 and expects it to reach approximately USD 14 billion in 2026. More than 60 percent of revenue comes from subscriptions or transaction-based models.
The format, which initially gained popularity particularly in the Asian market, has evolved into an international entertainment category within just a few years. Specialized providers such as ReelShort and DramaBox have built global user bases; meanwhile, major existing social media and streaming platforms are also incorporating microdramas and short series into their offerings.
The format has also gained traction in the German-speaking market, which is relevant to naoo. According to Omdia, microdramas reached approximately 4.4 million monthly active users in Germany in 2025.
For naoo, microdramas and short series are the first step toward a broader entertainment strategy. Additional professional entertainment formats are set to follow gradually.
This expansion complements naoo’s existing features related to social content, creators, communities, and local offerings. While these areas are primarily characterized by interaction, discovery, and user-generated content, the “Entertainment” section introduces a more extensive range of professionally produced content to the platform for the first time. Users can discover, view, share, and discuss this content within the same app. In this way, naoo creates additional opportunities for engagement and aims to further increase usage frequency and session duration.
This additional usage can be monetized using existing infrastructure. Advertising monetization is already integrated into the platform. Increased content usage thus creates additional monetizable advertising inventory. Looking ahead, subscriptions are expected to provide another direct revenue stream from professional content.
In the long term, the infrastructure that has been created will also be open to creators and other rights holders. They will be able to distribute and monetize their own IP through naoo. In this way, naoo is expanding its business model to include an additional integration of social media, entertainment, and creator monetization.
naoo will announce its first content portfolio and further details about the launch in October 2026.
