naoo Play is already proving itself in beta testing; the public launch is scheduled for the second half of November 2026
Zug, November 2026 – naoo AG (Düsseldorf: Ticker NAO; ISIN CH1323306329) is on the verge of launching its new entertainment service, naoo Play. Just a few weeks after the announcement, the streaming integration into the existing naoo app is already up and running. The public launch is scheduled for the second half of November 2026. At the same time, the company is offering a first glimpse into the entertainment content that users can expect at launch: Over 130 professionally produced vertical short dramas, totaling more than 7,600 episodes, have been successfully licensed for naoo Play.
The content lineup includes international miniseries featuring a wide variety of stories and settings. These include, for example, *Hollywood Star’s Fake Girlfriend*, a story about love and illusion in the world of a Hollywood star; the family drama *My Sister Stole My Man*, about jealousy and betrayal between twin sisters; and the mystery thriller *Dead Iron*, in which an abandoned factory becomes the setting for a suspenseful story. In addition to English-language productions, the portfolio also includes series from Latin America, Asia, and other regions. The stories, produced specifically for smartphones, are told in short, consecutive episodes and give naoo users access to a diverse world of international entertainment.
Vertical short dramas have evolved into a major category of the international entertainment industry within just a few years. According to estimates by the market research firm Omdia, the global market will reach approximately USD 14 billion in revenue by 2026 and grow to nearly USD 25 billion by 2031. The format is also gaining increasing prominence outside of Asia and is opening up new opportunities for combining professional entertainment, digital communities, and interactive user experiences.
“We are proud to offer a very attractive content catalog—featuring over 130 titles and more than 7,600 episodes—for the launch of naoo Play. With naoo Play, we are tapping into a billion-dollar market that is growing rapidly worldwide and opening up new opportunities for international reach and additional revenue,” says Karl Fleetwood, Chief Operating Officer of naoo AG.
naoo Play will be integrated directly into the existing social media ecosystem. At launch, naoo users will have access to the entertainment offerings without any additional paywalls. The company will initially rely on ad-based monetization and is exploring complementary revenue models for future development. The integration with social media, communities, and gamification creates opportunities to evolve the entertainment experience beyond simply watching series.
All series will be available with subtitles in seven languages right from the launch: German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Turkish, and Chinese. The subtitles are dynamically generated by naoo Play. Additional languages are planned. This means that naoo Play is designed for international use right from the start.
With naoo Play, the company is expanding its platform to include an additional entertainment section. naoo expects this to provide new momentum for user acquisition, usage frequency, and time spent on the platform, as well as additional monetization opportunities. Looking ahead, this is also expected to create further connections between TV series, actors, and the existing social media and community features.
