Career turnaround! Neymar leaves Al-Hilal and plans a new start

Neymar, the Brazilian football star, has ended his time at Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal and is returning to his boyhood club Santos FC. The 32-year-old reached an amicable agreement with Al-Hilal to terminate his contract after his time there was marred by injuries.

In August 2023, Neymar moved from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal for a transfer fee of 90 million euros. However, his stint in Saudi Arabia was accompanied by setbacks: After just five games, he suffered a torn cruciate ligament, forcing him to take a long break. After his return in October 2024, he only played two more games before a thigh injury put him out of action again. In total, he only made seven appearances and scored one goal.

The decision to terminate his contract was made in light of these ongoing injury problems. Al-Hilal thanked Neymar for his contributions and wished him all the best for the future.

With this move, Neymar hopes to revitalize his career and earn a call-up to the Brazilian national team, especially with the 2026 World Cup in mind. His return to Santos is seen by many as a chance to build on past successes and regain his form.
